What led you to your current position as a Mortgage Broker here at Innovative?
I became a mortgage broker because it was a clear way to work with friends and family to help navigate a very important time and purchase in life. I have always been an entrepreneur at heart and have been surrounded by small business owners my whole life. Now more than ever, there are challenges that face men and woman who are self-employed or are small business owners. The Mortgage Brokerage industry can help those individuals achieve the dream of homeownership and it is exciting to be a part of that process.
What is your favorite part of your job?
I enjoy working with people. But, I also love crunching data. I have always been very "right brain" "left brain" and this career lets me be creative and analytical at the same time. Finding the right mortgage for someone involves much more than just a great rate. A mortgage needs to make as much sense for you in 5 years as it does today so learning about my client’s goals and lifestyle is a critical part of the puzzle. With access to so many lenders, I get to find the perfect product while you find the perfect home.
What are your favorite activities to do in your spare time?
I grew up playing golf and basketball and still do both regularly although basketball is definitely harder on the body these days. I taught myself how to sail via YouTube last summer and successfully made it back to the correct shore every time so cheers to YouTube. I enjoy cooking and hosting game nights with friends or in the summer, throwing the Frisbee around and playing spike ball on the Legislative grounds is a great way to spend the weekend.
What personal mantra do you live by?
"For us is the life of action, of strenuous performance of duty; let us live in the harness, striving mightily; let us rather run the risk of wearing out than rusting out." Teddy Roosevelt. I take that as, if there is work to be done, do it and do it well. If a friend who wants to grab a coffee or a beer, say yes. Take time for yourself when needed but invest in your relationships with friends and family. The rewards are a full life and a reputation that you can be proud of.
