Career Background

What led you to your career at Innovative Mortgage Solutions?

I spent nearly 20 years in the grocery industry, where I had the privilege of working in a number of communities and provinces along the way. But after moving that many times, my wife and family decided to do something where we could stay in one city and stay put while our kids grow up. All that experience in the stores helped me learn to provide excellent service, work well with numbers, and solve complex problems with many moving parts. When a friend of mine suggested mortgage brokering, it just made sense!

What part of your role speaks most to your personality?

I’ve always been one to solve puzzles, problems, and brain teasers - but more importantly I love to build long-term strategies. Working with a client on their mortgage is about helping them understand how to achieve their long-term goals, and my role is to be a coach and a guide to help them get there. I get to help each client solve their own “mortgage puzzle”!

If you could be any kind of sandwich, what would you be? 

I would be a delightfully extravagant turkey bacon club, on two slices of  homemade 12-grain bread, with sprouts, a spicy Dijon mustard, smoked Applewood cheddar, some cucumber, some tomato. All kinds of fresh, tasty ingredients with a bit of a zing!
