Making a Lasting Impression with Curb Appeal

Posted on 02 May, 2013

When it comes to buying a home, first impressions are lasting impressions. From the minute a prospective buyer sees the exterior of a home; they have already subconsciously formed an opinion which can affect their outlook through the rest of the viewing.

Curb appeal is a very powerful strategy when selling a home. If the landscaping is unattractive, the house will appear unattractive. Creating curb appeal to attract buyers can be easy and done within any budget. Here are some tips to add curb appeal to your home:

A lush green and well maintained lawn is important. If your lawn is covered in bare spots consider adding some grass seed and fertilizer to it; you will see the transformation within six weeks.

Add a splash of color with flowers either in a garden bed or some planters. Color draws attention, which is what you want when selling your home. If you do not have a green thumb flowers such as daylilies or geraniums’ are easy to grow and maintain.

Try adding definition to your yard by creating an edge to your garden bed. There are several ways to do so, depending on a budget. You can use paving stones, rocks or just simply dig a small narrow path along the edge of the garden to create the illusion.

Add some finishing touches by cleaning the windows, gutters, siding and if need be add a fresh coat of paint on the fence. This will make your house look clean and put together.

When it comes to selling your home, curb appeal can go a long way with very little effort. Try it and see. For more information on contact one of our Mortgage Brokers today.
