April 22 is recognized nationally as earth day. A day to teach, learn and recognize the importance of respecting and taking care of our earth. Here are facts and strategies you can utilize to help make a difference!
Reduce– Did you know using lids while cooking reduces energy consumption by up to 14% and a front loading washing machine uses about 40% less water than a top loading one? Using less energy especially around the house is a great way to make a difference for the environment as well as save you money.
Reuse – A research report from 2013 showed that Canada produces, on average, 777kg of garbage per citizen, each year! Some great ways to reuse and produce less garbage is by using recyclable bags, getting out of the disposable mindset and start a composting.
Recycle – Did you know on average for every 6 six bottles used, only 1 makes it to recycling! This results in billions of pounds of plastic waste that contaminate our oceans and put sea life at risk. Recycling can be one of the simple ways of supporting a healthy earth.
